Comprehensive Rheumatology Clinic Nairobi is a new establishment by an experienced physician and rheumatologist. It is born of a vision to give the best patient care, to educate the public, and to contribute towards advancement of Rheumatology locally, regionally and abroad.
Rheumatic diseases are chronic conditions characterized by suffering pain and disability, both in the physical and mental health dormains, with associated deterioration in Health Related Quality Of Life. Our main mission therefore is to alleviate pain and suffering, avoid disbility, and achieve maximum improvement in the overall quality of life in our patients
Our vision is to grow into a network of clinics providing similar rheumatology services to every province in Kenya. We also have a vision of facilitating training of upcoming rheumatologists and providing them with employment opportunities.
We aim at providing the best of specialized health care to our patients at the most competitive cost in the market.
Dr. Benard Owino
Dr. Benard Ouma Owino (physician & rheumatologist) is the founder of COMPREHENSIVE RHEUMATOLOGY CLINIC NAIROBI (CRCNAIROBI), situated at CORNER HOUSE, 4TH FLOOR, KIMATHI STREET, NAIROBI CBD. Dr. Owino also conducts rheumatology clinics on Friday mornings at German Medical Center.
Dr. Benard O. Owino
Dr. Owino obtained MBChB, 1985 and MMed [Internal Medicine], 2007, both from the University of Nairobi. His other academic/professional qualifications include a post-graduate certificate in International Post-graduate Training in Medicine/Rheumatology [IPTM] from Tel Aviv University, Israel, 2009; EULAR post-graduate certificate course in rheumatology in Naples, Italy, 2009; A 2 year EULAR On-line certification Course in Rheumatic Diseases passed with distinction 2010.
Dr. Owino completed his one year internship at the then Nyanza Provincial General Hospital in August 1986 after which he served as a medical officer in Kisii and Nyamira District hospitals 1986-1990. Dr. Owino’s subsequent professional experience include group full time private general medicine practice with Dr. Z. Gaya in Eldoret town 1991-1994; personal full time private general medicine practice in Eldoret town 1994-1999; part-time lecturer Department of Medicine, Moi University, 1994-1999; joined Kenyatta National hospital as a medical officer on February 1, 2000 and retired as a Senior Medical Specialist February 2017; Honorary Senior lecturer, University of Nairobi, 2007-2017; Consultant physician and rheumatologist, Acacia Medical Center, 2010-2015; part-time lecturer, consultant physician and rheumatologist, Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi, 2010 June to June 30, 2021; Consultant physician and rheumatologist, German Medical Center, 2015 to date.
Dr. Owino initiated the rheumatology clinic at Kenyatta National hospital in March 2010, and he continued to be the clinic team leader/ instructor to the University of Nairobi medical students during their rheumatology rotation till February 2017. Dr. Owino is the proprietor and the lead Rheumatologist at Comprehensive Rheumatology Clinic Nairobi.
Dr. Owino is an author/co-author of various publications in reputable international rheumatology journals, and has participated in numerous international rheumatology scientific meetings locally and abroad.
Dr. Owino was elected member to the American College of Rheumatology in August 2010, and remains an active member to date.
